By installing and using zenGPT, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before using our Chrome extension.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the zenGPT Chrome extension ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not install or use the Extension.

2. Description of Service

zenGPT is a Chrome browser extension that enhances your ChatGPT experience by providing:

  • Custom Folders: Create unlimited folders to organize your ChatGPT conversations
  • Bookmarks: Bookmark important conversations for quick access
  • Advanced Search: Search across all your conversations by title
  • Date Filtering: Filter conversations by time periods (today, last 7 days, last 30 days, etc.)
  • Export Functionality: Export your chat data in HTML format
  • Trash Management: Safely delete and restore conversations
  • Health Monitoring: Track import performance and system health

The Extension is provided free of charge and operates entirely within your browser using local storage. All features work offline after initial data sync.

3. License and Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use zenGPT for personal or commercial use. You agree to:

  • Use the Extension only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension
  • Not use the Extension to violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Not redistribute, sell, or sublicense the Extension
  • Not remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
  • Comply with OpenAI's Terms of Service when using ChatGPT through our extension

You may use zenGPT for both personal and business purposes without additional licensing.

4. Third-Party Services

zenGPT integrates with ChatGPT, a service provided by OpenAI. Your use of ChatGPT through zenGPT is subject to OpenAI's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI.

We are not responsible for:

  • ChatGPT Availability: Downtime, rate limits, or service interruptions from OpenAI
  • API Changes: Changes to ChatGPT's interface, API structure, or features that may temporarily affect zenGPT
  • Data Practices: OpenAI's data handling, storage, or privacy policies
  • Account Issues: ChatGPT account suspensions, restrictions, or access problems
  • Subscription Requirements: OpenAI's pricing, subscription tiers, or access requirements

zenGPT requires an active ChatGPT account to function. We act solely as an organizational interface for your existing ChatGPT conversations.

5. User Data and Privacy

zenGPT operates on a local-first architecture. All folders, bookmarks, and organizational data are stored locally on your device using IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local. We never collect, store, or transmit your personal data or chat history to external servers. For complete details, review our Privacy Policy.

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Local Storage: All your data is stored locally in your browser
  • Data Backup: You are responsible for exporting/backing up your organizational data if desired
  • Uninstallation: Uninstalling zenGPT will remove all locally stored folders, bookmarks, and settings
  • Browser Security: You must maintain the security of your device, browser, and ChatGPT account
  • No Cloud Sync: zenGPT does not sync data across devices - each installation is independent

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Warranties that the Extension will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of results
  • Warranties that defects will be corrected

You use the Extension at your own risk. We do not guarantee that the Extension will meet your requirements or expectations.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ZENGPT, ITS DEVELOPERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill
  • Service interruption or data loss
  • Damages arising from your use or inability to use the Extension

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

8. Updates and Modifications

We reserve the right to:

  • Feature Updates: Add, modify, or remove features to improve functionality
  • Bug Fixes: Release updates addressing bugs, security issues, or performance problems
  • ChatGPT Compatibility: Update the extension to maintain compatibility when ChatGPT changes its interface or API
  • Terms Updates: Modify these Terms and Conditions with notice provided through the extension or our website
  • Service Discontinuation: Discontinue the Extension entirely, with reasonable advance notice when possible

Updates are delivered automatically through the Chrome Web Store. Continued use of the Extension after updates constitutes acceptance of any changes. If you disagree with changes, you may uninstall the Extension.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from your browser. We reserve the right to:

  • Terminate or suspend your access to the Extension for violation of these terms
  • Discontinue the Extension entirely with or without notice

Upon termination, all licenses granted to you will immediately cease, and you must uninstall the Extension.

10. Intellectual Property

The Extension, including its code, design, user interface, graphics, logo, and documentation, is owned by zenGPT and protected by intellectual property laws. You acknowledge that:

  • Ownership: We retain all rights, title, and interest in zenGPT
  • No Transfer: Your license to use zenGPT does not transfer any ownership rights
  • Trademarks: "zenGPT" name, logo, and branding are our exclusive property
  • Usage Restrictions: You may not use our name, logo, or branding without written permission
  • Derivative Works: You may not create derivative works based on zenGPT

Your organizational data (folders, bookmarks, settings) created within zenGPT remains your property.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless zenGPT, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the Extension
  • Your violation of these Terms and Conditions
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Your violation of applicable laws or regulations

12. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in courts of competent jurisdiction.

13. Children's Use

The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are under 13, please do not use the Extension.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
